During Holy Week, the Mayo and Yaqui Indians celebrate with Matachin and Pascola dance performances.
 
In spite of the intense urbanization that is undergoing in Hermosillo, the city has conserved its rich art, history and architectural memorials that include various museums. These museums offer a broad overview of Sonora’s culture, including information about the customs of regional ethnic groups. Hermosillo and its surrounding areas also host important sporting events that draw renowned figures in bicycling and fishing. The tournaments take place in attractive natural locale such as the Sonoran desert and along the coast of the Sea of Cortez.
