Barrancas del Cobre
Mexico is situated in the northern region of the American continent linking the Gulf of Mexico on the east and the Pacific Ocean on the west. The royal Barrancas del Cobre meaning the Copper Canyon, a nature park in the state of Chihuahua, spans more than 600 kilometers in length and 250 kilometers in width. Due to the different types of terrain, you will experience intense climates, with cold winds in the high areas and hot weather at the bottom of the canyons, where it can reach up to 40º Centigrade during the summer.
This huge canyon system is deeper than the Grand Canyon at certain points. The average depth is between 1520 to 1879 meters. Among some of the major canyons are the Urique, Batopilas, Sinforosa, Huapoca, Candamena and Septentrion. The inspiring natural atmosphere is the home of an innumerable number of plant and animal species. One of the best ways to see the Copper Canyon’s natural wonders is via train. The Chihuahua-Pacifico train, also known as Chepe, makes numerous stops along the way.
