Huatulco
Mexico is situated in the northern region of the American continent linking the Gulf of Mexico on the east and the Pacific Ocean on the west. It is encircled by the United States on the north and by Guatemala and Belize on the south and is divided into six tourist regions. These regions are Northern Mexico, Central Mexico, Southern Mexico, The Yucatan Peninsula, The Pacific Coast and The Baja California Peninsula.
Huatulco is one of the most popular destinations in Mexico, and is well known for the quantity of cultural related attractions and monuments that the city has embraced. Located almost 277 kilometers from Oaxaca and 50 minutes, by plane, from the Mexico City, Huatulco is well known as a coastal paradise with crystalline waters and various types of sand.
Huatulco experiences a hot and semi-humid climate with an average temperature of 28 degree Celsius and sunny days throughout most of the year. This destination has nine bays, which are protected areas, and 36 beaches, which are part of the Bahias de Huatulco National Park.
The fame of Oaxaca’s artists is world-renowned. In downtown Huatulco, one can buy a wide range of quality crafts, including traditional clothes, embroidered items, gold and silver jewelry and wood sculptures. One can also purchase contemporary art, such as colorful wooden alebrijes, paintings and iron sculptures.
The more important festive appointment in Huatulco is the Fiesta del Mar, which takes place during Holy Week. It offers music, dance and fun games. Another important festivity, which is held on the isthmus, is the Vela Xunaxi, during which the best regional dress is awarded a prize. Finally, there’s the celebration of Santa Cruz on May 3, which features a wide variety of delicious cuisine, music and a fair.
