Tampico
Mexico is situated in the northern region of the American continent linking the Gulf of Mexico on the east and the Pacific Ocean on the west. It is encircled by the United States on the north and by Guatemala and Belize on the south and is divided into six tourist regions. These regions are Northern Mexico, Central Mexico, Southern Mexico, The Yucatan Peninsula, The Pacific Coast and The Baja California Peninsula.
Tampico is the second most significant commercial port along the Gulf of Mexico, is located on the southeastern tip of Tamaulipas, 254 kilometers southeast of state capital Ciudad Victoria. The city has a humid subtropical climate, with an average year-round temperature of 24º centigrade. Known mainly for its bustling commercial activity along the port, Tampico also offers architectural, archaeological and natural attractions, making it one of the region’s main tourist destinations.
Among some of the most notable sights are the Catedral de la Inmaculada Concepcion de Tampico, the Edificio de la Aduana Maritima, a pyramid known as Las Flores The Flowers, and the nature areas near Playa Miramar and La Laguna del Carpintero,where you can do various water sports. In Tampico’s surrounding areas you will find ecological sites like the Laguna El Chairel, where you can observe a wide variety of wildlife. There you can go fishing for such species as red snapper and shark.
Tampico is a destination that offers outstanding tourist services and it has maintained the feel of a traditional Mexican city.
