Mexico is situated in the northern region of the American continent linking the Gulf of Mexico on the east and the Pacific Ocean on the west. It is encircled by the United States on the north and by Guatemala and Belize on the south and is divided into six tourist regions. These regions are Northern Mexico, Central Mexico, Southern Mexico, The Yucatan Peninsula, The Pacific Coast and The Baja California Peninsula.

Originally called Taxco de Alarcon, the silver capital of Mexico is situated in Mexico’s southern region, 138 kilometers north of Chilpancingo, the state capital of Guerrero and 151 kilometers south of Mexico City, off Highway 95. The climate is warm and humid, with an average year-round temperature of 19º centigrade.

Taxco, considered as one of Mexico’s most charming towns, this charming destination offers cobblestone streets, colonial buildings and white houses with red tile roofs. Another prominent attraction of supreme beauty is the Catedral de Santa Prisca and one of the most representative examples of decorative architecture in Mexico. During your stay, you also can visit the Humboldt and Borda houses, which have great historical and cultural value or you can check out the Viceregal Art Museum and the Silver Museum.

In the surrounding areas you can visit wonderful natural settings like the Grutas de Cacahuamilpa which are ideal for cave diving. Another interesting natural attraction is the Alejandro Humboldt National Park, where you will find plentiful pine and oak forests offering beautiful landscapes for hiking. After the meal, you can take a stroll along the magnificently illuminated streets, and if you like, you can duck into one of the bars, coffee shops, or nightclubs, most of which you will find on the city’s southern end.

Taxco is a destination that offers outstanding tourist services and it has maintained the feel of a traditional Mexican city.
