Toluca
Mexico is situated in the northern region of the American continent linking the Gulf of Mexico on the east and the Pacific Ocean on the west. It is encircled by the United States on the north and by Guatemala and Belize on the south and is divided into six tourist regions. These regions are Northern Mexico, Central Mexico, Southern Mexico, The Yucatan Peninsula, The Pacific Coast and The Baja California Peninsula.
Toluca is the capital of the State of Mexico and the highest city in the nation, with an altitude of 2680 meters above sea level. It lies 65 kilometers west of Mexico City. Toluca has an average temperature of 18º centigrade and three microclimates cold, semi-cold and temperate. The area gets rainfall during the summer. Toluca is a city where you will see contrasts of old and new. On the one hand, it is called La Bella due to the French neoclassical architecture.
In Toluca’s surrounding areas you will find many enjoyable and relaxing nature areas with a plentiful offering of indigenous wildlife. Toluca is one of the cities with the richest architecture in central Mexico. As you walk along the streets you will find numerous buildings built between the 17th and 19th centuries. Toluca has diverse museums that display diverse exhibits. In fact, it is the city with the second highest number of museums in the nation.
